Location: Kigali – Rwanda

Employment Type: Full-Time

We are recruiting on behalf of our client.

Job Summary:

The Accountant will manage all financial transactions, ensure accurate record-keeping, and maintain compliance with accounting standards and tax regulations. This role supports outside catering business by providing timely financial reports, managing budgets, and ensuring cost control for events and operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Bookkeeping & Financial Records

  • Record daily transactions (sales, purchases, expenses).
  • Maintain accurate ledgers and reconcile bank statements.
  • Prepare and maintain accurate financial statements (income statement, balance sheet, cash flow).
  • Monitor daily transactions and reconcile accounts.
  • Prepare simple cash flow forecasts for upcoming events.
  • Generate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management.

Event Costing & Budgeting

  • Prepare cost estimates for catering events.
  • Track food, labor, and overhead costs to ensure profitability.
  • Develop and monitor budgets for catering events and operations.
  • Identify areas for cost reduction and efficiency improvement.

Accounts Payable & Receivable

  • Issue invoices to clients and follow up on payments.
  • Process supplier payments timely and maintain good vendor relationships.
  • Manage client billing and follow up on outstanding payments.
  • Maintain accurate records of all receivables and payables.

Tax & Compliance

  • Prepare and file tax returns and statutory reports on time.
  • Keep records for audits and compliance checks.
  • Ensure compliance with local tax laws and regulations.

Payroll Support

  • Calculate wages for casual staff and permanent employees.
  • Ensure statutory deductions are made correctly.
  • Calculate and process staff salaries, allowances, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws and statutory deductions (e.g., RSSB, PAYE, CBHI, Maternity etc.)

Inventory & Asset Management

  • Monitor inventory costs and reconcile stock records with financial data.
  • Track and manage company assets and depreciation schedules.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma or Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Experience in small business accounting (hospitality/catering preferred).
  • Proficiency in basic accounting software or Excel.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.

Good communication skills for dealing with suppliers and clients.

Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
